I was inspired by Rachel to create a list of 101 things to do in 1001 days And so here it is. Goal number 7 is to create a blog, and I’m well on my way to finishing my 101 things. And for those of you who are keeping track, my date for completion is May 29, 2011.
101 Things in 1001 Days
(in no particular order)
- dance a solo (at least one whole verse of a song) with an audience
- go a whole week without my car (or a whole week without using anyone’s car)
- take a ceramics class
- eat a meal at a sit-down restaurant alone (and without a book)
- eat my pantry or my freezer bare
- list 101 things that bring me joy
- Create a new blog
- journal or blog every day for a month
- write a short story and try to get it published
- Turn off my cell phone for 24 hours (and not get anxious)
- compile a book of my favorite recipes
- visit each of my close friends’ homes
- Visit California
- Go on a 24 hour silent retreat
- Eat Gluten and Dairy-free for a week
- Sew an article of clothing I can wear
- Learn to crochet
- Participate in chapel for a whole month
- Run a 5K
- Make a list of 101 books I want to read
- Reread my childhood favorites
- Renew my passport
- Host Sunday lunch at my house
- Go to the beach for at least a weekend
- Watch the sunrise
- Visit a zoo or aquarium
- Do volunteer work for a day
- Plant a garden?
- Do something that scares me
- Donate Blood or Plasma
- Hike 25 miles of the Appalachian Trail (does not have to be all at once)
- Go to a Ballet
- Host a wine and cheese party
- Try 5 new restaurants (3/5)
- Find a source for locally raised meat
- Buy a piece of art
- Kayak or Canoe in Virginia
- Paint the Bathroom
- Create a reading corner in the house
- Be at work by 8:00 a.m. for two weeks in a row
- Exercise 3 times a week for a month (0/12)
- Keep a list of movies I want to see
- Buy something on Ebay
- Buy and use reusable grocery bags
- Find a way to keep track of family birthdays
- Clean out the home office and make it functional
- Try a food I’ve never eaten before
- Fix my bicycle
- Make homemade frozen dinners
- Participate in Gimme Your Stuff http://gimmeyourstuff.blogspot.com/ at least once
- Collect the things I’ve written into a portfolio, electronic or otherwise
- Find 10 things (not clothes) in my house I can sell or give away (0/10)
- Make a list of 25 things I like about myself
- Finish my college scrapbook
- Learn to burn music onto CDs
- Create Melvin Udall style CD’s for car
- Ride a horse
- Go to an art museum
- Make a new friend
- Volunteer my PR skills to a cause/event I believe in
- Take 10 artistic photographs and print them
- Have a jewelry making party with friends
- Memorize a Bible story
- Teach a class on biblical narrative in contemporary culture (religious imagination)
- Make a budget and stick to it
- Eat breakfast every day for a week (and not at 10:30)
- Find a way to keep my cat from scratching the couch (preferably one that does not involve removing her claws)
- Make a pamper myself drawer full of things that cheer me up
- Grow a vegetable I’ve never grown before.

- Have a Mother-Daughter weekend with mom
- Have a Father-Daughter day with dad
- When I have written 101 articles for work- have a party (this will have to be retroactive to when I started my job, not starting now) (78/101- as of 7/14/09)
- When I complete everything on my list- Celebrate!
